Professional Experience
Nicholas “Nic” Nerli is an associate attorney at SKH’s Portland, Oregon office. In 2019, Nic started at SKH as an administrative assistant, then intake coordinator. He soon became legal assistant to Shareholder Laurel Hook before attending the University of Washington School of Law. During law school, Nic stayed at SKH, clerking under Laurel Hook, and gained invaluable experience in the arenas of high-asset divorce, complex litigation, high-conflict custody and parenting time disputes, support modifications, premarital agreements, and domestic violence. As an associate attorney, Nic pulls from his history at SKH to help clients carefully navigate their cases from start to finish.
Nic takes pride in his attention to detail, nimbleness, and investigative spirit. As an undergraduate, he was editor-in-chief of Lewis & Clark College’s award-winning student-run newspaper. In that capacity, he developed a keen ability to research, ask the right questions, scrutinize incessantly, and communicate persuasively. These skills were honed at law school and continue to benefit his practice as a family law attorney.
Nic is passionate about supporting clients through their hardest family law moments. He strives to practice the SKH motto of “Creative Solutions for Difficult Times.”

Interests
Nic is a proud native of the Pacific Northwest. Born in Bend, he was raised in Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. In his free time, Nic celebrates what the Pacific Northwest has to offer. He likes to hike, beachcomb, sip wine, and explore local culinary scenes. Nic also loves to fly fish across the West and spends his free time tying fly patterns.
